A team of eight cybersecurity bachelor's degree students, led by Program Director Dr. Scott White, participated in the invitation-only 2025 Commonwealth Cyber Fusion competition. The event was held February 21-22 at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and was open only to the Virginia community colleges and universities that are NSA/NHS designated National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Security (NCAE).
This prestigious annual gathering, chaired by Senator Mark R. Warner and hosted in partnership with the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative and the Virginia Cyber Range, serves as a dynamic platform for the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
Bringing together top students, educators, and industry leaders, the event featured hands-on competitions, expert-led discussions, and valuable networking opportunities with key stakeholders in cybersecurity. Participants engaged in immersive challenges designed to simulate real-world cyber threats, sharpening their technical skills while gaining insights into emerging trends and workforce demands in the field.
