Congratulations to GSPM student Brookklin Brown (CPS MPS ’22 in Political Management) on winning a $5,000 Runner-up prize in the 2021 GW New Venture Competition (NVC)!

Ms. Brown and her non-GW affiliated business partner, Marylynn Jones, made it through the most competitive field to date with over 193 teams. Over 100 judges from all over the world whittled down the field to 36 semifinalists and 14 finalists.

They entered their real estate venture, P.E.E.C.E. Homes, in the social ventures track, because they planned to supply affordable, energy-efficient homes to underserved communities in Baltimore City.

“We saw a need to transform abandoned homes in underserved communities into safe and affordable ones for low-income individuals and families to purchase and lease to own,” she said.

“We designed the company that will provide wrap around services and educate our clients about homeownership, financial management, and community sustainability. P.E.E.C.E. Homes plans to do more than just renovate properties. P.E.E.C.E. Homes plans to revitalize communities,” said Brown.
