Check out CPS’s new “Career Builder Series”

September 2, 2020

Nicole Mintz

Nicole Mintz, director of CPS Career Services, has begun hosting a series of topical events to expand the programming options for students and alumni.

The new Career Builder series includes program-specific webinars designed specifically for professional students. These are unique as they focus on the interests of the students in a program/industry, like information technology, paralegal studies, publishing or sustainable urban planning. She is also planning future sessions that will appeal to a broader student base, like resume writing, interviewing and virtual networking on LinkedIn.

The next virtual event in our Career Builder series, “Taking Action to Interrupt Racism within Scholarly Publishing,” will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020 from 7:00–8:00 p.m. ET.

The event will be co-moderated by Publishing Program Director, John Warren and CPS Career Services Director Nicole Mintz and feature three speakers discussing the importance of bystander intervention, actions to accelerate progress, ways to support bias-affected individuals, and what it will take to make scholarly publishing a more equitable and inclusive industry.

Other career builder webinars held this summer were:

  • Paralegal Hiring Trends During COVID
  • Sustainable Urban Planning LinkedIn Lab
  • GW Publishing Alumni Career Panel

The series is an expansion of career services programming already provided by Ms. Mintz, including one-on-one coaching, developing job search strategies and sustaining lifelong career success. Her services are open to current students and alumni.
