The College of Professional Studies' online master’s degree program in Homeland Security has been ranked as one of BestColleges.com’s Best Online Master’s in Homeland Security programs for 2019. In fact, they have ranked GW’s online program #1, out of 25 online programs included on their website.
Their ranking methodology uses a multi-faceted approach grounded in statistical data and evaluating the academic quality, affordability and online competency of accredited nonprofit institutions.
They combine the most recently available data from the National Center for Education Statistics, with surveys and other data verification methods. They use three categories of weighted criteria, each made up of multiple data points. They are:
- Academics & Learner Support – 50% of total score (admissions rate, enrollment rates, retention rates, graduation rates)
- Affordability – 25% of total score (cost of the program, percentage of enrolled students taking federal loans, loan default rate)
- Online Programming – 25% of the total score (number of online programs offered, percentage of enrolled students taking online courses, percentage of instructors teaching online courses required to complete online training, the maturity of the online program-years offered).
