Healthcare Corporate Compliance Program Honored With National Compliance And Ethics Award

GW's program is the first to offer a comprehensive online graduate certificate in healthcare compliance. Presented at the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics' Annual International Compliance Awards Banquet in Chicago, the award recognizes leaders in the compliance field who exemplify professional integrity and strengthen the profession.

First Police Science Class Graduates

The George Washington University College of Professional Studies recently graduated its first class of police science degree students. Edward L. Coates, B.P.S. '07; Stephanie L. Heyward, B.P.S. '07; and Yusuf M. Norris, B.P.S. '07, graduated from GW on May 20, 2007. All three individuals are police officers in the D.C. Metro region.

Paralegal Studies Program Granted National Honor Society Chapter Rights

GW's paralegal studies program was recently granted the right to maintain a Chapter of Lambda Epsilon Chi (LEX). Lambda Epsilon Chi is a paralegal national honor society founded by the American Association for Paralegal Education.

CPS Sponsors 3rd Annual Newton Mathematics Competition

CPS co–sponsored and hosted the annual Newton Math Competition at GW this year on March 15th. Over one hundred students from regional high schools attended and competed in individual or group categories. The opening remarks were provided by Don Lehman, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and George Gamow Professor of Physics. Dr. Paul Werbos from the NSF presented the luncheon lecture on 'Mathematics and the brain'."

CPS Announces New Paralegal Studies Programs

Innovative new Master's and Graduate Certificate programs in Paralegal Studies will launch in January 2007. These new programs will be the only credit–bearing, post–baccalaureate paralegal program in Washington, D.C.

CPS Announces New Master's Program in Molecular Biotechnology

CPS Dean Appointed as UCEA President

Roger Whitaker, Dean, College of Professional Studies, and Professor, Department of Educational Leadership, was elected by the national membership of the University Continuing Education Association (UCEA) as President–elect for 2004 and President for 2005. In October, he delivered the keynote speech, "Why Be Bold?," at the UCEA Mid–Atlantic Regional Annual Conference, and, in January, presented a paper entitled "Creating Crosswalks: Competencies and Curricula" at the 2004 Workforce Development Forum, San Francisco, CA.

New Police Science Program

On April 15, 2004, GW's President Trachtenberg announced the new CPS undergraduate certificate and degree programs in Police Science, with special scholarships for police who are admitted to these programs, as part of the dedication ceremony of a grand archway on the campus of GW as the "Walter E. Ford and Sloan Foundation Grants Awarded to CPS

In January '04, CPS, on behalf of the GW Office of the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, accepted the award of four Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) feasibility planning grants from the Ford and Sloan Foundations for development of innovative professional master's degree programs in the humanities, social sciences, and the sciences.
