One of the lesser-known aspects of publishing is the vast diversity of career alternatives available to publishing professionals. In this edition of our monthly publishing career builder series, we'll hear from GW MPS in Publishing alumni and professionals on their experience in "alternative" careers in publishing, careers outside of trade or scholarly publishing companies and presses. Alternative careers, broadly speaking, can include opportunities in audio publishing; publishing services; education or library publishing; research, corporate, military, and government, and much more.
We'll hear from Andrea (Andi) Wollitz (MPS, 2014), Director of Children's Publishing for Recorded Books; Misty (Anna) Miller, (MPS, 2018), Digital Publishing Manager, Center for Digital Education, Olin Business School at Washington University, St. Louis; and Kally Lange, (MPS, 2015), e-Education Lead, NSOS Support Team, at Leidos; and Michael Maher (current MPS student), Manager, Digital Operations, HarperCollins Publishers. They will share their perspectives and experiences in pursuing a career in publishing.
